Local Attractions

Conveniently situated at the bottom of the road, you will find a supermarket and bank for those little emergencies, along with a hair salon and beauty therapist.

For a more varied food choice Moraira, also known as "The jewel of the Costa Blanca" offers cuisine from all over Europe in various supermarkets. We highly recommend the local markets for fresh fruit and vegetables at very low prices.

The local markets offer almost everything to buy that your heart may desire. Clothing and jewellery, Sporting memorabilia, Local art and craft offerings, Home wares, DIY accessories, and it goes without saying that they'll be a host of culinary delights. The local market days are:

Friday-Moraira, Saturday-Calpe, Saturday-is also the Benissa fruit and vegetable market,

Sunday-Teulada, this is combined with the Spanish equivalent of a car boot sale or "Rastro"
Monday-Denia, Tuesday-Altea, Wednesday-Benidorm & Benitachell, Thursday-Javea

Moraira offers a whole host of activities. Water sports, to include jet skiing, scuba diving and sailing are on offer at the various beaches. You can also indulge yourself in a spot of fishing, go-carting, visit the fun fair, pitch and putt golf courses, or simply meander along the expanse of marina.

On a more relaxing note there are a choice of superb restaurants including "Girasol" which has been voted No. 2 restaurant in Spain on various occasions There are also spas boasting a variety of pampering solutions, health & beauty salons, hairdressers, or just a sit in a local bar and watch the world go by.

For the whole family why not visit:

Below are some of the local attractions we recommend.

Terra Mitica Theme Park - Great fun for all the family. Best to get a 2 day pass as too much to see in one day. 30 minutes drive.

Europe's newest Paramount Theme Park,
The Terra Mitica Theme Park is the only one of its kind in the world. A fascinating journey of the Mediterranean's five most legendary civilisations: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands. In Terra Mitica you will be able to fight along side Ulysses, sail the Nile and beat the Minotaur! Or cool yourself down with one of the many water rides, experience the amazing Roller Coaster and other amazing rides.

In the same area there is now Terra Natura which features a zoo with animals from Asia, America and Europe. Inside is Aqua Natura, another waterpark but convenient as they are both together. A big attraction is "Swimming with Sharks" for those that enjoy an adrenalin rush!! A good day out to do both together. (www.terranatura.com)

Aqualandia - Water World - "A World Of Water" situated in Benidorm, again, a 30 min drive from Moraira.

Thrills, spills and an action packed day out at one of Europe's largest water parks. The location of Aqualandia is perfect, built on a mountain side trapping the sun, an ideal opportunity to top up the tan! There are slides galore from the Zig Zag, the Rapids, the Kamikaze to the Black Hole! 2 new attractions are to be built for the summer of 2004. There is even a special play area is available for the little ones.

Mundomar Marine Park - Marine and exotic animal park - situated in Benidorm.

Mundomar is a marine and exotic animal park near Aqualandia.  It's a unique adventure with many exotic birds and marine animals which can be observed in their natural    environment. Both the view of the Mediterranean bathing the beaches of Benidorm in the morning and the iridescent reflections made by the afternoon sun in the sky are sights worthy of admiration, for which Mundomar boasts balconies incomparable for their privileged position. Mundomar offers its visitors an extensive collection of parrots and other species outstanding for their huge variety of plumages and morphologies. In their amusing show, they show off their skills and perspicacity rather than their talents as chatterboxes. The dolphinarium is a magic place which marks the climax of the journey with the dolphin show, a mammal whose great intelligence is both surprising and amusing. The kiosks located in different areas of the park offer you refreshments at any time, and the restaurant and cafeteria services of mundomar will delight the whole family with a cuisine of proven quality. They are also an ideal setting for holding celebrations and parties. Its well worth taking a look at their website, lots of educational information and pictures, pricing and booking pages

"The Algar Waterfalls"  (No website available)

It would be difficult to find waterfalls in a beauty spot as unspoilt as this unless they were in some specially protected area. This being the case, it was decided to carry out an extensive programme for the preservation of the unique natural setting of the Algar Falls. With a view to reversing damage already done and to guaranteeing the rehabilitation and conservation of the area, all installation work and services are carried out fully respecting the environment.

The Algar is a kind of natural water park with authentic swimming pools in which to enjoy the crystal clear waters: the 'Baladre', the 'Presa', to name two of them, filled by springs whose waters flow directly from among the rocks. Paths follow the course of the river closely and are constantly flanked by the incomparable and characteristic vegetation of the area, such as reeds, bamboo, oleandas and so on.

One path takes you up through aromatic herbs to the 'Arboretum' a garden of natural spices, in which the most typical of Mediterranean spice plants are to be found. Next to this is the museum of the environment which houses a small collection of aromatic and medicinal herbs and the essence of oils and perfumes made from them. All these products are available for purchase.

At the top part of the valley above the bathing area, a wide open space has been prepared with all types of facilities such as barbecues, tables, benches, stored logs, toilets and showers.

A water museum is also planned which will have on display the various types of irrigation systems and appliances used for water distribution in the Valencian Community. ext to all of this is a large free car park.

There are also several other attractions that have set up near the Algar Waterfalls like the Railway Museum and the Algar Cactus co

"Vergel Safari Park" - E-mail safari@colourtex.net - On the way to Denia, approx 30 mins away.

At Vergel Safari Park you can see the lions and tigers roaming in complete freedom along with the leopards, jaguars, Iberian wolves, primates and literally hundreds of totally free animals. With snakes over 90kg, parrots, seal & dolphin shows this is a great day out (especially for the kids).

After driving through the park in your car (where the lions and tigers come right up to you) you come to an area where you can walk around the with the 'less dangerous' animals: Goats, pigs, ponies etc. There are also go-carts, trampolines, boats, Congo train and a good children's playground area.
